No account, no cloud storage. Your photos never leave this phone until you save them where you choose.
Capture
Three ways to add photos
Scan photos, Live scan or Import.
- Scan photos is for a stack of prints. Shoot one after another, then review the whole batch at the end.
- Live scan finds the print while you aim and takes the picture by itself. You check each photo as you go.
- Import crops photos already in your library.
Tips for good scans
The surface, the light, and how to hold the phone.
- Lay prints on a plain surface.
- Keep the whole print visible. Leave a little of the surface showing around all four sides so Schubox can find the edges.
- Contrast helps: a light border on a dark surface, or a darker print on a light surface.
- Use even light, and tilt glossy prints away from glare.
- Hold the phone parallel to the print. This gives you the sharpest, least-distorted scan.
- If your iPhone switches to Macro mode, try moving the phone a little farther away. The regular camera often gives a sharper result for printed photos. You can also turn off automatic Macro switching in Schubox settings.
Review
Setting dates and captions
Set them once for a whole stack.
Set a date and caption on the home screen before you shoot, and they’re applied to every photo you add to the batch.
A caption that includes a date—like “Christmas 1975”—can automatically set the photo’s date. Seasons work too: “Yosemite Trip – Summer 1980” sets the date to the middle of summer.
Tap the date icon at any time to change dates and captions for one or more photos in your batch.
Refining a crop
Move the edges, turn the photo, or keep the entire shot.
Schubox automatically handles the tedious cropping, then helps you refine challenging shots.
Tap a photo to edit it. Drag a corner or an edge and it snaps to the print’s edge.
- The magnet button turns edge snapping on or off.
- Rotate turns the photo a quarter turn each tap. (Batch rotate is available on the review screen.)
- The nudge buttons move every edge in or out a little at a time.
- As shot keeps the entire picture.
- Cropped returns to the automatic crop.
You can also have Schubox automatically crop an additional 0.5% - 2% from the edges of your photo. Adjust Extra Crop in Settings.
Enhancing your photo
Optional fixes for color and borders.
The magic wand menu holds the optional fixes for each photo. To fix many photos at once, select them on the Review wall and use the wand there.
- Auto levels corrects faded contrast and color casts. It starts at strength 3. Choose a strength from 1 to 5 in Settings to change your default.
- Auto enhance brightens and balances the photo.
- Extra Crop trims a little more off every edge, to hide a rough edge.
- No border removes a print’s white border, leaving just the picture.
- Add/fix border adds an even border or replaces an uneven one.
Press and hold a photo to compare it with the original.
Settings
Your choices for every new photo.
Settings apply to new photos. Choose your favorite fixes and they’ll be applied automatically to every photo you take or import from then on.
Photos already in the batch aren’t changed. To change those, select them on the Review wall and use the wand.
Save to your library
Saving
Apple Photos, or any app with Share.
Schubox is made for scanning, not storing. Save your photos to the photo library you trust – Apple Photos, Google Photos or another favorite.
Tap Save to send the batch to Apple Photos. Tap Share to send it to another app, including Google Photos, Lightroom, Dropbox, or a different photo library.
Schubox includes the date and caption when you save your photos, so your photo library can use them to organize your memories.
Batches
Up to 50 photos at a time.
Up to 50 photos per batch. Save your batch, clear it, and start the next stack.
Deleted
Recover photos you’ve deleted by mistake.
Deleted a photo or a batch by mistake? Choose Deleted in the ••• menu, select the photos and tap Recover. Your last 100 deleted photos are kept there.
